Game Tech Academy launches FUSION

The word fusion describes the joining of two or more things to form one thing, the style of music that combines elements of different styles and traditions, food that merges different culinary cultures and the process in which atomic particles combine and produce a large amount of energy.

Game Tech Academy’s FUSION events and community want to do exactly that: create something new, that is full of energy by combining different perspectives, styles and cultures in an environment that fosters innovation and networking.

Meet successful female game tech entrepreneurs

Connect with likeminded people & expand your network

What to expect on September, 24th

You are invited to our inaugural FUSION event where we will dive into the seemingly endless potential and opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship that lie at the intersection of the creative industries/professions and digital technologies.

Digital games are just one example of what becomes possible when you merge creativity with technology. Games are beloved by many and have gained world-wide recognition as standalone cultural goods.

What is less publicly known about digital games is that they are packed with technologies that can be applied in many contexts beyond entertainment.

During Game Tech Academy’s first ever FUSION event, you’ll get the chance to hear from three female entrepreneurs that are taking game tech and game concepts a step further, delivering solutions to real-world problems based in diverse sectors:

Aseel Berglund, Co-Founder of Liopep

Aseel Berglund is a researcher, innovator, and co-founder of Liopep, a spin-off from her research on creating tools that make physical activity and exercising fun. Liopep combines gamification, exergames, and AI-driven body tracking to deliver engaging exercise experiences that can be used both for prevention and rehabilitation. Aseel bridges the gap between research, technology, and real-world impact. With her background in computer science and applied AI, Aseel is passionate about exploring how game technologies can be applied far beyond entertainment—transforming everyday challenges into opportunities for creativity, health, and wellbeing.

Sany Ivanova, Founder & CEO of Virkley

… a Copenhagen-based startup leveraging the power of Unreal Engine to help real estate companies and property developers showcase their new housing projects to potential clients—often before construction is even completed. Her journey began with a personal challenge: having to move multiple times without ever being able to truly see or experience the space beforehand. This inspired her to create the first Virkley demo, turning a passion for Unreal Engine into a solution that brings immersive, interactive virtual tours to the real estate market. Today, Virkley is on a mission to revolutionize how properties are presented, making the buying process more transparent and engaging for everyone involved.

Shaeema Zaman, Founder & CEO of Science Melting Pot

… is a physicist and science communicator with a love for making science playful and accessible. She did her PhD at Aarhus University, where she worked on games and simulation tools in quantum physics. Along the way, she became increasingly aware of how many scientists lack the tools to communicate their work in inclusive, engaging ways. Driven to make a difference, she founded Science Melting Pot, a startup offering workshops that blend games, theatre, and storytelling to spark curiosity and foster inclusion in science and technology. Some of the approaches she developed during her PhD now form the backbone of her startup.
