Volvo Game Jam, a game tech challenge

During the Volvo Game Jam (October 11-14), game development students from the University of Skövde created seven games to spark interest in technology among 11-14-year-olds. The winner, Garage Lab, was announced on Monday.

“It was a fantastic opportunity to create something impactful for the youth,” said Alexander Freij from the winning team.

Studies show a declining interest in STEM subjects among young people. To address this, Volvo Group together with Drivhuset Skaraborg, Science Park Skövde, the University of Skövde, Balthazar Science Center, and the gaming association Ages organized the Game Jam. The goal was to find solutions to the declining interest in STEM subjects by using game technology.
